For example, an employer advertises “therapist” while your degree and experience describe a narrower discipline. Request the intended licensing category and duties in writing. Prepare a short explanation of the mismatch with the supporting transcript and employment evidence. Do not rename a qualification or employment role to make it appear to match.
You are considering an assistant role
Check the assistant category’s own requirements and supervision conditions. CDA’s published scope table distinguishes Psychologist from Assistant Psychologist; the assistant category includes supervision by a licensed psychologist. You want to provide social work services

Requirements CDA Dubai Publishes
These are the specific conditions taken from the authority's own service pages — the details that most often decide whether an application proceeds or stalls.
Four categories must complete British University in Dubai training first
CDA names Assistant Psychologist, Behavioral Analyst, Assistant Behavioral Analyst and Learning Support Teacher as requiring enrolment in an intensive training programme at the British University in Dubai as a prerequisite for applying. The university's training certificate is part of the document set for these four categories.
The other four categories sit the licensing examination
CDA states that an application to license a Psychologist, Social Worker, Social Counselor or Special Education Teacher requires the applicant to pass its professional licensing examination. CDA also states the examination is held every three months, at the British University in Dubai.
Licence is valid for two years
CDA states the licence is valid for two years, subject to renewal. Renewal also requires forty (40) hours of Continuing Professional Development across all categories.
A qualification recognition or equivalency report is required for a foreign degree
CDA's current service instructions call for an equivalency report for a degree issued outside the UAE. The current government application service is called qualification recognition and is run by MoHESR. Verify the report CDA accepts for your particular qualification; partner verification and recognition are separate stages.
Minimum one year of professional experience
CDA requires a first university degree or equivalent recognised in the UAE, and at least one year of experience in the profession being licensed. The per-title requirements are set out in CDA's Scope of Competence, where one category — Special Education Teacher — carries a five-year bar on its Bachelor's route.
Good conduct certificate from Dubai Police
CDA requires a good conduct certificate issued by Dubai Police for Dubai residents, or from the police department of the relevant emirate. An applicant resident in the UAE for less than six months provides one from their country of residence instead.
Eligibility conditions beyond the qualification
CDA also requires full civil capacity, residence in the UAE, and that the applicant has not been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanour involving moral turpitude or dishonesty unless rehabilitated. CDA reserves the right to set further requirements.

CDA states that it does not currently charge professionals a licence fee, and that the position is temporary. That is not the same as the process being free: examinations, category-specific training, verification, foreign-degree recognition and attestation may be charged by other bodies.
