Confirm the setting before the category
This page covers the CDA Special Education Teacher category. Dubai private schools also have KHDA staff-appointment requirements. Do not decide that one process replaces the other merely because a vacancy says “special education,” “inclusion” or “learning support.” Ask the employer which approval applies to your actual duties and establishment.

Make the qualification route clear
Record the exact award and major, institution, completion date and relevant employment periods. Identify the CDA qualification route you want reviewed. A postgraduate certificate, a short special-education course and a master’s degree should not be presented as the same award.
For each employment period, distinguish general classroom teaching from the special-education duties you actually performed. Keep dates and responsibilities consistent with the employer’s records. If a letter is too broad, request an accurate clarification from its issuer.
Illustrative situation: an applicant has five years of teaching experience, but only part of that role involved special education. Counting every year as specialist experience would hide the real question: which duties and periods can be accepted for the intended route? Present the breakdown for review instead.
Before CDA will license you
CDA’s published licensing information places Special Education Teacher on the professional examination route. Psychologist, Social Worker and Social Counselor are listed on that route as well. Confirm the current assessment instructions and available dates with CDA before making a booking.
The training route listed for four other categories is separate. Do not assume that a course certificate replaces the examination for your title. Ask what must be reviewed before assessment, how a sitting is confirmed and which result or certificate belongs in your application. Plan around a confirmed date rather than assuming a recurring schedule guarantees availability.

Prepare carefully
Special Education Teacher is a CDA category, not a DHA one. Community-based social care in Dubai sits with the Community Development Authority, and an application sent to a health authority will not simply be redirected.
Special Education Teacher sits CDA's professional licensing examination rather than the British University in Dubai training programme, which CDA names for four other categories. The examination runs every three months, so missing a sitting moves the file by months rather than days.
CDA publishes Special Education Teacher twice, as two separate routes: bachelor's degree with five (5) years or master's degree with one (1) year of experience. Which route you are on is decided by your degree level, and the two bars are far enough apart that reading the wrong row can rule you out of a category you actually qualify for.
The major CDA names for Special Education Teacher is Special Education. A degree in an adjacent subject may still be accepted, but that is CDA's decision on your specific file rather than something to plan around.
The experience CDA asks for here depends entirely on the degree level: five (5) years against bachelor's degree and one (1) year against master's degree. Checking which row applies to you before preparing anything else is the cheapest step available.
Experience letters without clear dates, role detail and recency create avoidable queries on an otherwise sound file — and the shorter the required period, the more precisely it has to be evidenced.

What CDA charges
CDA states it does not currently charge professionals a licence fee, and that this is temporary. The process still has costs. CDA does not publish a fee for the licensing examination, so ask CDA whether one applies before you book. Special Education Teacher FAQs
It depends which of the two published routes you are on. With a Bachelor's degree in Special Education, CDA states a minimum of five (5) years — the longest bar on the list. With a Master's in Special Education, it is one (1) year.
Either a Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree, in both cases with a major in Special Education. The degree level is what sets the experience requirement: five (5) years against the Bachelor's, one (1) year against the Master's.
CDA’s scope table lists one year of experience against the master’s route. Two years may address that experience figure if the work is relevant, but the qualification, major and remaining requirements still need review. It is not an automatic eligibility decision.
School-sector regulation and CDA social care professional licensing are separate matters. Confirm which applies to your specific role and employer with the relevant authority before applying.
Do not assume all teaching experience qualifies as experience in special education. Describe the relevant duties and periods and have them reviewed for your qualification route.
