PQR Rules That Apply to Every Allied Title

The April 2025 PQR reference groups allied health into 39 disciplines. Read the exact title row with the relevant notes, general requirements and later authority updates. The authority assesses how your evidence fits the requested title.

Check whether postgraduate study affects experience

A Master's or PhD in the area of specialty reduces the required experience by one year — but only where that degree is not already mandatory for the title.

Read the Higher Colleges of Technology provision precisely

Higher diploma certificates issued by the Higher Colleges of Technology in the UAE are treated as equivalent to a bachelor's degree under MOE standards.

One-year Master's are accepted from twenty countries

Postgraduate qualifications must normally be two years full-time. A one-year programme is accepted from Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK or the USA.

Assistant titles require the applicable supervision

Assistant allied healthcare professionals cannot work independently and must work under a licensed allied healthcare professional. The same rule appears again inside individual disciplines for dialysis technicians, occupational therapy assistants, psychometrists and dental laboratory aides.

The transcript supports discipline assessment

Provide the transcript alongside the award and any required course or training evidence. Do not rely only on a degree name when identifying the discipline; the authority makes the classification decision.

Pharmacy

Start with the facility’s intended role and the likely discipline, then compare the exact title row with your records. Technician and technologist rows, for example, ask for different qualifications.

Questions About the Allied Health PQR

How many allied health disciplines does the PQR list?

The April 2025 Unified PQR groups allied health into 39 disciplines with 100 titles between them. Each title has its own qualification and experience row in the tables on this page.

Does a Master’s degree reduce the experience I need?

By one year, if the Master’s or PhD is in the area of specialty and is not already mandatory for the title. A one-year Master’s counts only if it is from one of twenty listed countries; otherwise the PQR expects two years full time.

Can an allied health assistant work alone?

No. The PQR says assistant allied healthcare professionals must work under a licensed allied healthcare professional. Several disciplines repeat this, including dialysis technicians and occupational therapy assistants.
