What PQR actually publishes

Qualification & Experience Requirements by Title

Pharmacy licensing separates the general Pharmacist title from Clinical and Specialized Pharmacist titles, which need residency training or postgraduate specialization on top of the base pharmacy degree.

TitleQualificationExperience
PharmacistBSc in Pharmacy, or Doctor of PharmacyTwo (2) years of experience post-qualification
Pharmacy TechnicianDiploma in a Pharmacy program, minimum two (2) yearsTwo (2) years of experience post-qualification
Clinical PharmacistBSc Pharmacy + a Clinical Pharmacy Residency (minimum two (2) years), or PharmD (minimum six (6) years), or BSc + a two-year postgraduate route to PharmD/Master's in Clinical Pharmacy, or a Bachelor's/4-year Master's + a UK Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical PharmacyNo experience required after a Clinical Pharmacy Residency or PharmD*; otherwise two (2) years, including a minimum of six (6) months in a hospital setting
Specialized PharmacistBSc Pharmacy/PharmD + a one (1)-year postgraduate qualification in a recognized pharmacy specialty, or an American Board certification in that specialtyTwo (2) years post-qualification; not required with an American Board certification*

Note: marked with * where PQR applies its standard Discontinuity of Practice (Gap of Practice) rule — professionals with more than three (3) years out of clinical practice may need extra CME/CPD hours and supervised retraining before the "no experience required" route applies.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Pharmacist vs technician mix-up

Applying under the Pharmacist category when the qualification or role fits a Pharmacy Technician or Assistant Pharmacist route instead.

Facility-type mismatch

Assuming a community-pharmacy and hospital-pharmacy licence pathway are the same without checking the target facility.

Exam requirement assumptions

Assuming a MOHAP Pharmacist exam result satisfies a DHA or DOH requirement without checking authority-specific rules.

Incomplete experience history

Providing unclear or incomplete recent-practice information relevant to the intended pharmacy setting.

Verification assumptions

Starting DataFlow or PSV for a pharmacy qualification without checking current primary-source verification requirements.

Automatic-outcome assumptions

Assuming exam exemption, licence approval or a fixed timeline before the relevant authority reviews the case.

Exam guidance

Preparing for a UAE Healthcare Licensing Exam?

What DHA, MOHAP and DOH publish about their assessments, sourced from their own service pages. Guidance supports preparation only and does not guarantee exam results or license approval, and we do not sell exam questions.

You get three attempts, shared across authorities.

DHA states the assessment must be passed within three attempts across the Authorities — so a failed run is not reset by applying to a different emirate.
