Pharmacy licensing separates the general Pharmacist title from Clinical and Specialized Pharmacist titles, which need residency training or postgraduate specialization on top of the base pharmacy degree.

Choose the pharmacy title first
Pharmacist, Clinical Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician: Matching Your Qualification
The PQR lists Pharmacist, Clinical Pharmacist, Specialized Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician separately. Compare the complete qualification route with the intended category before selecting exam preparation. A job advert using “clinical pharmacist” is a starting point for clarification, not confirmation of your licensing category.
- Describe the qualification sequence. Record the entry degree, course duration, postgraduate awards and any residency separately. Include the transcript so the reviewer can distinguish the programme content from its name.
- Separate the practice settings. List community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, clinical rotations and other employment as distinct periods. Identify which activities were student training and which were employed professional practice.
- Explain duties as well as job titles. Ask employers to describe your actual responsibilities and dates. Keep sales, manufacturing, research and patient-facing pharmacy work distinguishable; do not combine them into an unexplained experience total.
- Match the proposed position. Obtain the intended licensed title and facility details from the employer. Check the corresponding requirements before paying for an assessment under a different category.

Make mixed experience understandable
Presenting Community, Hospital and Non-Clinical Pharmacy Experience
Illustrative situation: an applicant worked in a community pharmacy, moved into pharmaceutical sales, then applied for a hospital role. A CV describing all three years as “pharmacy experience” leaves the licensing question unresolved. Present the periods, registration status and duties separately and request a review against the proposed title.
If you already have a verification report or an exam result, keep its authority, title, reference and date together. Ask which existing results can be used for the new application before ordering another package; possession of a report does not settle title eligibility.

Which UAE pharmacy licensing route should I choose?
Start with the facility regulator and exact professional title proposed by the employer. Then compare your qualification and experience with that title rather than choosing an authority or exam solely because a colleague used it.
Does a PharmD automatically qualify me as a clinical pharmacist?
The award name alone does not settle the category. Present the course duration, entry qualification, postgraduate study or residency and relevant practice settings so the complete pathway can be compared with the Clinical Pharmacist requirements.
How should I present retail and hospital pharmacy experience?
List each employer and period separately with the role, duties and registration status. Distinguish employed practice from student rotations, observation and other training, and make the hospital component clear where relevant to the requested category.
Can I include pharmaceutical sales in my work history?
Disclose it accurately as a separate employment period. Do not describe sales work as clinical pharmacy practice or add it to a clinical experience total without checking the applicable requirements. An employer letter should explain the duties actually performed.
Is an assistant pharmacist title the same as Pharmacy Technician?
Do not assume that titles used in different countries or authorities are interchangeable. Compare the qualification and duties with the exact category offered by the target authority before selecting the application.

Keep the report or result, issuing authority, professional title, date and reference together. Ask the receiving authority or verification provider which transfer or additional checks apply before paying for a new package.
What if I have a break in pharmacy practice?
Show the last date of professional practice, subsequent employment and any education or retraining. Request a gap-of-practice review before committing to an assessment or course; keeping a registration active does not explain the clinical practice history.
Can I start work after receiving DHA registration?
DHA registration and an active professional licence are separate. The healthcare facility must activate the registration into a licence before practice; confirm the issued title and status with the employer.
What determines the cost of a pharmacist application?
The authority, requested category, verification documents, assessment and any further review affect the payable items. Separate official charges from consultancy fees and ask whether report transfers, translations or repeat submissions are included.
